Potato/Broccoli Bread slice roll

I had prepared this as a snack and we both liked it and also it so stomach filling it just became our dinner with Roasted corn soup .
Ingredients: For 6 slices
Bread Slices - 6  I used whole wheat bread
Potato - 2 small
Garlic - 1 clove minced
Broccoli head - 1 cup chopped finely
Paneer - 1 cup grated ( optional)
Cheese - 1 cup
Oil/Butter - 2 tbs divided
Salt and Pepper -to taste

Roasted Corn potato soup

Ingredients:
Corn kernels - 2 cups
Potatoes - 3
Celery - 1 stick
Bell Pepper - 1/2 cup chopped
Green beans - 1/2 cup chopped
Any other vegetables if you like, I like to add zucchini and french onion
Milk/ heavy cream - 1 cup
Broth or water - 2 cup
Onion - 1 cup chopped
Cheddar Cheese - 1 cup
Garlic- 4
Salt and Pepper to taste

Home made Yogurt made simple

Hmm... I tried making yogurt at home several times, I must have spoiled 4-5 gallons of milk trying to make a perfect curd/yogurt. Never turned up good and used to through it away. I finally did it and now everyday i make at home and we eat fresh home made yogurt. It is simple but need some careful steps.
In India it is so easy to make yogurt, boil milk and a tbs of yogurt culture would make a nice curd. But here may be because of the weather and other factors it never use to turn up so good until i found out alternate ways to make it.

Ingredients :

Milk - I use 2% , you can use whole milk as well.

Sabudana payasa / Shabakki payasa / Tapioca pudding


I had prepared this pudding last Sunday for my guests. I made this earlier never turned out right but this time it came out so good, Melting in the mouth. Try this and let me know how much have you enjoyed.

Ingredients: Serves 4 people
Sabudana /tapioca - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Milk - 21/2 cups ( add more if it becomes thick)
Water - 2 cups
Cardamom - Freshly ground 1 tbs
Cashews/ Chopped Almonds/ Raisins - handful (Optional but recommended)

Vangi bath/ Eggplant rice

This is one of my all time favorite dish. We had a guest at home last Sunday and had prepared vangi bath for them and they loved it. It tastes yummy, trust me.

Banana Blue berry Smoothie

Hot weather and cold smoothies goes so well. I made banana, blue berry smoothie yesterday for vighnesh and he loved it in that hot weather. Very relaxing!.


Ingredients :

Subway Sandwich (My version)

I prefer to make and eat cool, soothing sandwiches over hot rice sambar during summer days. This will be our lunch for couple times a week in the summer days.

I usually use swiss or mozerilla cheese but this time I used something different. We went to wisconsin for a vacation. you might be knowing, wisconsin cheese is very famous and tasty. We witnessed the cheese making  in one of the country side store and bought some cheese. Truely it is very tasty!.


What I used? (for foot long length bread)
Lettuce - sredded  1 cup
Tomato - thinly sliced 5-6 pieces
Cucumber - thinly sliced 5-6 pieces
Banana pepper - a few
Cucumber Pickle - 4-5 pieces

Today's Lunch plate - Spinach ranch Pasta and Mung sprouts Quinoa Salad



Today's lunch was pasta salad and vegetable salad. This was a nice soothing lunch for the hot day today.
I was not thinking to add this recipe to my recipe book earlier, just prepared and came out very well so writing here to share with you.

Mung Sprouts

Sprouts are highly nutritious and enzymes which promotes the good health.  They are rich in digestible energy and rich in phyto chemicals, proteins and minerals.
According to Shipard (2005) - “Sprouts provide a good supply of Vitamins A, E & C plus B complex. Like enzymes, vitamins serve as bioactive catalysts to assist in the digestion and metabolism of feeds and the release of energy. They are also essential for the healing and repair of cells. However, vitamins are very perishable, and in general, the fresher the feeds eaten, the higher the vitamin content. The vitamin content of some seeds can increase by up to 20 times their original value within several days of sprouting. Mung Bean sprouts have B vitamin increases, compared to the dry seeds, of - B1 up 285%, B2 up 515%, B3 up 256%. Even soaking seeds overnight in water yields greatly increased amounts of B vitamins, as well as Vitamin C. Compared with mature plants, sprouts can yield vitamin contents 30 times higher.”

Barley is one of our regular diet food. Sometime I use barley replacing rice, sometime make soup with that or make barley dosa and Idli. I ground the barley and make barley cereal for Arushi, she is 6 months now and she likes it.

Sweet Potato rice



Sweet Potato has many nutritional facts. This is high source of dietary fiber, low in cholesterol, sodium and saturated fats. It is  a very good source of vitamin A and C. I try to use it often in our diet. Sometime bake them or I make curry or rice item like this.

Ingredients: Serving 2-3 adults
Basmati Rice  - 2 cups
Sweet potato - chopped in to cubes ~1 cup
Peas - 1 cup
Carrot - 1/2 cup chopped
Green beans - chopped in to 1 inch lengthwise
Onion - 1 cup chopped
Garlic - 2 cloves, chopped finely
Ginger - 1 inch cube grated
